Picking up this book was a no brainer for me! I LOVED the Mythean Arcana series and, to be honest, the concept of this series excited me even MORE. Cass, Del and Nix are the perfect trio, and Aidan is dark and handsome and I'm not talking about his looks, but his personality! I LOVED hi and Cass together! I would have liked it even steamier than it was, but the restraint of the author allows this to be an appropriate read for both teens and adults. Can't wait to read the next part to this series!Product details

I normally do not read YA but this story was one of the best I have read. I don't think it is meant as YA but it reads like one. No sex but a lot of sexual frustration. It is all from the heroines pov and she is realistic and funny, I would have liked to know the hero's thoughts as well but it was good without it. The books in the series are a little expensive for me but I will likely buy more when possible.
This book sat on my for weeks (long enough the second book came out before I'd read the first!), and I kept skipping over it when I wanted to start something new. I was certain I knew how the story would go, and it would be the exact same thing I've read 100 times over.
I was wrong.
The book pulled me in right from the start - Run, Hide, FireSoul. It sets up the larger picture of the world we find ourselves in, the combined larger bogeyman of the Master and the hunted reality of FireSouls within this world.
I loved the set up for our intrepid trio of FireSouls, how they earn their living. The idea of taking a mythical treasure stuffed full of decaying magic and making a copy of it for a client is fantastic. (Don't we all wish we could have a fantastic relic or two?) Cass's respect for the ancients and history gone past was evident, and that made me like her all the more. She's not just robbing tombs for the treasure, but rather helping maintain those places and the histories within...while earning a tidy profit for their shop.
Aidan makes a great hero - honorable, reliable, rich without being snobby, powerful without being a show boat - and watching Cass come to slowly rely on him is enjoyable. It's a nice change from the bad boys and good girls mix. Cass struck the perfect tone for "snarky kick ass heroine" - she achieves that without it seeming forced or becoming unlikeable. I loved the hunt for the treasure. I loved the dragon tendencies inherit in being a FireSoul.
I highly recommend this book/series. Definitely for fans of snarky, strong-yet-flawed female leads...and the healthy dose of adventure is a nice bonus!
Dragon's Gift The Huntress Series are all a great read- I read the entire series and have elected to just do one review here- I enjoyed them, the flair and learning the characters who were developed very well. The Huntress series was very well developed and I did binge read them in quick succession which is incredibly rare for me, I definitely think Linsey Hall is an author to follow. This series brought me to her second 'The Seeker' series which follows a different character but it lost my attention being so similar to the first series making the characters interchangeable in my mind and sadly I never finished the second in the 'Seeker' series. - That is personal preference, the books were every bit as great as the first series, just not so defined to hold my attention (

Action, adventure, fantasy, mystery, and a little bit of romance. Here’s a kick-ass, female protagonist; then, enter a swoon-worthy side-kick who just happens to have a Scottish accent, and I was in love.
At the age of 15, Cass and two other girls woke up in a field with no memory of who they were or where they came from. All they could remember was, run… hide… FireSoul. They are Magica, and indeed, they are FireSouls, a type of Magica who are hunted and imprisoned or killed for the risk they pose to other Magica, having a part of a dragon’s soul and the ability to steal other powers by killing the Magica they belong to. But who are they running from? They only remember he’s evil.
Ten years later, these girls, now sisters for all intents and purposes, have made a life for themselves in Magic’s Bend, keeping their secret and staying under the radar. That is, until sexy and dangerous Aidan, the notorious and ridiculously wealthy Origin shifter, turns up wanting Cass’s help finding a magical artifact that could expose them all.
This book reminded me of two of my all time favorite series, The Mageri Series Box Set by Dannika Dark and A Rylee Adamson Omnibus Books 1-3 by Shannon Mayer. The world that Hall created was interesting, fun, and exciting.
The story itself was very intriguing and kept me interested throughout. You know those books that just never have a moment of lag or boredom? This is one of them. Right away, it created mystery and developed a good, emotional connection. There’s something about these girls and their vulnerability in the prologue that makes you root for them and hope they succeed.
I liked how Cass was an independent woman who could take care of herself, but even more so, I liked that she liked that Aidan was willing to put himself in between her and danger. It made them seem like more of a team rather than being too unnecessarily adversarial. She’s already fighting her feelings for him because she must hide her and her sisters’ secret.
I also like how this book wraps up the current story, but still leaves some big questions that remain unanswered, which makes me want to start reading Book 2 (Mirror Mage). Further, part of this book I listened to on audio book while on the long drive to and from visiting family for Thanksgiving, and the audio book quality is great as well. The narrator does a fantastic Scottish accent to make Aidan Merrick even more of a heart throb.
I’m going to have to say that if you are a fan of Urban Fantasy or strong female leads, this book is a must read. Five Stars.
